Pure Morris is here – the most enchanting collection of the year
”For the free-spirits, the truth-seekers and the quiet contemplators” – This is how the new unique collection is described, with it launch i June 2016, by the wellknown and beloved Morris & Co. At first sight it might seem like a journey back to the founder William Morris' aesthetics, which it is, but it's also a lot more than that.
The patterns in the new Pure Collection - which consists of both wallpapers and fabrics - are evidently inspired by the original patterns created by the founder in the 1800's. For example, the famous ”Bachelor Button” pattern from 1892 is one of many to be recreated and embody William Morris' true love to everything associated with the middle ages. The aforementioned pattern is particularly inspired by the medieval frescos/murals and is now available in two new colours.

CREATED FOR CONTEMPORARY HOMES FROM A JOURNEY FROM THE PAST
The main line of thought behind the collection was not only to return brand's core principles, but also retain Morris' values: skilled craftsmanship and expert designed patterns. It reminds us of how Morris was an interior designer who focused on details and simplicity. Nowadays Morris & Co wants to create wallpapers for the modern home while remaining true to it's roots in the past. And they've really succeeded! The collection has managed to capture the essence of Morris' iconic design in a modern style with a colour palette that is neutral and mesmerizing. It's this combination of history and low-key touch which gives this collection a calm, and nearly mystical feeling.
Fabric: Pure Ceiling Embroidery
Surrounded by today's desire for a simpler life, by focusing on inner basic feelings, it seems as if the new Pure Collection perfectly explores and interprets Morris' iconic patterns from a new angle. Revisiting the archive is exciting as new techniques, such as the usage of glass shards and metal inc, are used to achieve the new reincarnated design. "This is Morris modern home", Alison Gee, Head Designer for the Pure Collection, said.
NINE DESIGNERS - NINE TECHNIQUES
The fabric collection was created by nine designers who used nine different print-, weaving- and stitching-techniques. As for the wallpaper collection, there where eight designer who used several techniques drawing inspiration from traditional tools. Some of the wallpaper patterns where printed with the same original blocks, used during in the beginning, while others where repainted to capture the original prints' essence.
In order to add a modern touch the collection, different scales where used to give a natural flare. It's obvious how Morris & Co works with handicraft that both focuses equal amounts on modern and traditional styles, while at the same time maintaining it crucial role in the world of pattern craftsmanship and interior design.
Are you searching for patterns that are suitable for both classical and contemporary homes, whether you're looking for wallpapers or fabrics, this collection is definitely the place to start looking.
